NBA Season Starts In Full

The NBA had its first full slate of games tonight, with the Boston Celtics seeing action for the first time. The Celtics spanked the hapless Washington Wizards, who could not throw the ball in the ocean. The Detroit Pistons moved to 2-0 with an easy win over the Orlando Magic. The defending champion San Antonio Spurs also moved to 2-0 in methodical fashion. The Toronto Raptors moved to 2-0 while the Chicago Bulls, perhaps distracted by all the Kobe trade talk, fell to 0-2.

Without further delay I will present my predictions for the 2007-2008 NBA season.

1) The Boston Celtics may be the most interesting team in the NBA but they will not win the Eastern Conference. Listen people, three stars on the downslope of their careers who have never won anything does not a championship bring. The Detroit Pistons will defeat the New Jersey Nets to win the East.

2) The best team in the Western Conference remains the San Antonio Spurs, who will be hard pressed this year to hold off the Denver Nuggets, the second most interesting team in the NBA. You heard it here first: Year two of the Carmelo Anthony and Allen Iverson experiment will yield phenomenal results.

The Celtics wanna be Big 3 all played 40 minutes a piece in a game
they led by a big second quarter. They put the bench in that lost
some of the lead so they put the wanna be big 3 in again and they padded their stats in a game they were winning by 20 points.

What does it say about your bench being so thin that you need your starters in most of the game just to keep the lead.?
I am sorry the Celtics need a bench because Garnett, Pierce and Allen all played 39 minutes tonight in a blow out loss. By the time the playoffs start these 3 guys are going to be dead on their feet from playing 40 minutes a game a piece.

Danny Ainge refusing to spend some money for a decent bench will be this teams downfall. I don’t think the Nets are as good as people think (tonight they lost by over 40) but the Pistons are a team. IMO they will win the east. Miami also looks horrible right now without Wade and if they make the playoffs with a healthy Wade I wouldn’t count them out no matter how badly they stink right now.

People keep calling the Celtics opening night win a success but how can a game you led by 20 points most of the night be considered a success when you needed to keep all 3 of your starters in the game for 40 minutes just to keep the lead? and no James Posey is not going to make a difference.

Doc Rivers still needs to be fired. He is horrible.
